The unexpected is part of everyday life in Cairo. After arriving in the evening, Carole discovered her luggage hadn’t arrived. With only her passport, wallet, phone, charging cable, and laptop, she spent the next morning hunting for a toothbrush. When her luggage—and art supplies—not appeared, she quickly bought pencils, brushes, paper, and watercolors, and began documenting everything through sketches. This gave birth to the self-ironic comic Caro in Cairo, capturing episodes that, from a Swiss perspective, are both confusing and absurd—from airport luggage adventures to everyday life quirks.
