The association Wahrheitskämpfer (wahrheitskaempfer.de) creates an international memorial to press freedom through drawn and painted portraits of journalists who have been killed, persecuted, or imprisoned. Since 2015, artists from around the world have portrayed journalists who were threatened or killed because of their work. Nearly 1,000 portraits have been documented so far.

In August 2025, the Frankfurter Rundschau (fr.getoetete-journalisten) published several portraits from the project in its coverage of journalists killed in the Gaza Strip, including a work by Carole.
